How to Fix Black Spots on Laptop Screen

How to Fix Black Spots on Laptop Screen? A laptop is an essential tool for work, school, and entertainment. So when something goes wrong with it, it can be frustrating and stressful.

Don’t worry if you see a black spot on your laptop screen – we’re here to help! In this post, we’ll discuss the causes of black spots on the laptop screen, as well as how to fix them.

Why is my laptop screen black:

There are many reasons why laptop screens can become black. It is often a hardware issue, but it can also be a software issue. The following are some of the most common causes of a black screen on your laptop:

  1. Faulty graphics card drivers
  2. A bad electrical connection between battery and motherboard
  3. Broken display screen
  4. A damaged inverter board
  5. The laptop is overheating and needs to cool down first
  6. Broken or malfunctioning hardware (keyboard, battery, RAM, etc.)
  7. Faulty graphics card drivers

Drivers are the most common cause of black screens on laptops. A graphics card is used to process graphics on your computer.

Your laptop’s drivers determine how well it can transfer information between its parts.

You may notice that your laptop’s screen is black when it cannot communicate effectively with its graphics card (usually due to outdated or faulty drivers).

Your laptop’s graphics card drivers could be causing this issue for two reasons: Faulty hardware (not the screen itself, but electronic components inside and There is a conflict between your graphics card and your current operating system (Windows 7, Windows 8, or 10).

What cause black spots on LCDs

Here are some issues which cause the laptop screen to be black.

Superficial Dirt or Debris:

If your laptop’s screen is dirty, there’s a good chance you’re seeing dirt or debris that has built upon its surface.

It would be best to try to clean this off first, as it could be the reason for the black spot showing up on your device.

Use compressed air around the edges of the screen to blow away any dust, lint, or general junk.

If sticky spots have developed on your screen over time, clean it with a microfiber cloth and the clean option.

Examine the surface of your laptop after cleaning it. If there are still black specks appearing on your screen, you’ll need to take more drastic measures.

Incompatible Display Mode:

If your laptop’s screen is incompatible with the mode it’s currently set to; you could see a black spot appear.

To fix this issue, change your display mode to a different setting.

For example, if your laptop normally uses an HDMI cable but tries to use VGA instead, you will see a black spot appear on your screen. If you need to change your display mode, go to the Control Panel and find Display Settings. Here, you can choose between different displays for your laptop – HDMI, VGA, etc.

Physical Damage:

It has been reported that some users have seen black spots on their laptop screens after dropping or otherwise damaging them.

If you suspect that your device has experienced some extreme shock, it’s best to either take it to a repair shop for diagnosis or purchase a new one.

Overheating:

If the thermal paste on notebooks is not properly applied, this can cause overheating and the appearance of black spots on your screen.

The device may be overheating if you’ve recently used your laptop to do heavy gaming or other intensive work.

This causes the hardware to work much harder than usual, leading to damage over time.

If this is the cause of your problem, you’ll need to replace the thermal paste or service your device for this problem.

Black Spots Just Appeared:

Sometimes, you’ll notice that black spots appear on your screen without explanation.

If the issue is sudden and unexplainable, it’s possible that you haven’t connected to the Internet properly.

Go to your Control Panel and find Network Connections (or Network and Internet Connections).

Here, you should find the problem connection and right-click it to “repair.” Sometimes, simply clicking “Repair” is enough to fix this issue.

If that doesn’t work (your laptop screen still has black spots), you may have a more serious hardware issue.

Stuck Pixel:

A small number of users have reported that they see a black spot on their laptop screen in the exact shape and size of a pixel.

If this is your problem, there’s no way to fix it – you’ll need to take your laptop in for service or purchase a new one.

Dead Pixel:

If you see a black spot that is any other shape than a single pixel, this could be a dead pixel.

You’ll need to take your laptop in for service to fix this issue. Contact your manufacturer if you need help doing this.

Faint Blue, Green, or Red Tint:

Sometimes, a faint tint in the colours red, green, or blue will show up on your laptop screen.

If one of these colours does not appear in the centre of the spot (where the pixel should be), then your laptop screen has been tinted.

It is a common problem with the screens of older laptops that have been around for more than three years, as their components can start to wear down.

How to observe Dark Spot on Laptop Screen:

A dark spot on your laptop screen is very noticeable if you’re using a black background.

If you’re using another colour as the background, then pay attention to the fact that the spot will be noticeable.

If you use Windows 7 or Vista as your operating system, go into Display under Control Panel and change the colour scheme from “Colorblind” to “High Contrast Black.”

Then, go into Power Options from Control Panel and change the PC’s power scheme to “Portable/Laptop” mode.

This will help you detect black spots on your laptop screen, as they will now be considerably more visible if there is a dark spot on your laptop screen.

How to Fix Black Spots on Laptop Screen?

The process of repairing black spots on laptop screens is relatively straightforward, but it can be difficult to determine if there is a spot or if your laptop has dead pixels. If the problem persists, you should take your computer in for professional service.

Inspect the screen carefully and look for any hole that isn’t completely black – this will be dust or small debris blocking the screen. If you see a hole, carefully use a can of compressed air to remove the offending particle.

If your computer still has black spots after removing any visible debris, it may have dead pixels. Most laptops have an option in their settings menu for this circumstance that will allow you to turn all the faulty pixels white.

Follow the steps below to turn your black spots into dead pixel warnings:

  1. Connect your laptop to an external monitor screen, keyboard and mouse via a VGA cable for this step because you’re going to need to use Fn+F7! If your laptop doesn’t have a VGA port, skip this step and go to step three.
  2. Turn your laptop on and wait for it to load Windows; if you can see the logo, then go to step three. If it boots straight into safe mode, shut down your computer by holding the power button until it turns off and try again.
  3. On the external monitor screen, press Fn+F7. This will turn off the laptop screen and enable you to see your laptop’s internal screen instead.
  4.  Use the Fn+Left arrow to select “White” on the laptop’s controls menu; this is located in a different place depending on which brand of laptops you have
  5.  When prompted, press “Enter” on the external monitor to accept the change, and your laptop will restart.
  6. Your computer should now have a “dead pixel warning” instead of black spots; if you notice any faulty pixels after restarting, go to step 2 again and select “Black.”
Note:

If your laptop does not have an Fn+F7 option, Android users can search for how to enable the “White” colour on touchscreen devices.

If your computer still has black spots after completing these steps, it may have a faulty screen or graphics card.

To check if the screen is the problem, detach your laptop from any external screens and continue using it normally.

Does the area where there were black spots now show up as normal?

Download and install a pixel fixer

If you still can’t use your laptop because of black spots, it may need to be professionally serviced.

After taking these steps, if the problem persists, run a pixel fixer program on your computer.

It will help resolve dead pixels without voiding your warranty.

Download Pixel Fixer for FREE – based on popular demand, this post got deleted on my site many times; it’s the only solution that I can guarantee will work for you.

This app has been specifically designed for those with black spots on their screens, and it works just as well as a PC does! Just connect your device via USB cable to your computer.

conclusion

If You follow this guide, you will be able to fix your black spot laptop screen. However, if it persists after taking these steps, there is likely something wrong with either your device’s hardware or software, and it needs to be serviced by a professional technician.
